This slow cooker spiced applesauce makes me happy. I’ve made it a few times this fall and winter and it disappears quickly. My husband and I find ourselves dipping into the applesauce for an after dinner dessert. Unlike many jarred applesauce this one is sweetened purely by the apples. The first time I experimented with making slow cooker applesauce is when I brought home a bunch of apples I bought at the grocery on sale. They were beautiful, but when I cut into them not so beautiful… BUT they weren’t bad apples. They were just destined for other greatness! Cinnamon Maple Walnuts

I just love the fall. I like the crisp smell of the leaves and going hiking with the rest of the leaf peepers in the mountains. And the food. With the fall comes a variety of squashes that can be seasoned and spiced to bring out the sweetness of savoriness. Fall is also a time that I put cinnamon on everything (more so than normal). Cinnamon is simultaneously sweet and spicy flavor makes it my favorite spice. Fall is coming. I want cinnamon-y snacks, but not something super sweet. Snacks are for that long stretch between lunch and dinner, not dessert. My office is full of potato chips, soda, M&Ms, and sugary granola bars. Those aren’t going to satisfy.
